What is Emotional Intelligence?Emotional Intelligence is a term that was first coined in the early nineties by researchers John Mayer and Peter Salovey. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is defined as the ability to identify, assess, and control one’s own emotions, the emotions of others, and that of groups.

Why use the EQ-i 2.0 Tool?
At Coaching Direct, we have been administering the EQ-i tool since 2011. Unlike other diagnostic tools, the EQ-i is a development tool that can be used to measure EI at the start and end of any programme. This means we can accurately measure the impact of any programme, which makes it unique.
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is not a static 'score'. It can be developed and strengthened over time, if focused development is implemented. It is therefore a hugely beneficial tool for use in the workplace. Emotionally Intelligent leaders are proven to be much more effective in the workplace; better at listening, defusing conflict, making decisions, controlling impulsive reactions and developing their teams.
If you're a coach who wants to add Emotional Intelligence certification to their executive coaching toolkit, or are responsible for people development, find out when our next EQ-i 2.0 course is running.
