The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown.  It has been developed to help men and women learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. The method was designed for work with individuals, work teams, and organisational leaders.

During the 2 day course, we explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and courageous workplaces. The primary focus is on developing resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we work and lead. We have detailed the 2 day outline below.

This course will take your leadership, and your own personal development, to a new level.

Course modules

Module 1: Introduction

Module 2: What is the relevance of trust to leadership?
Understand how and why trust is built incrementally and over time – completing exercises to identify trusting relationships  and the specific behaviours that they view as trust building in the workplace.

Module 3: What is the relevance of Vulnerability in the workplace?  Dispelling the myths…
Dispel the four myths of vulnerability as discussed in Brené Brown’s theory on vulnerability and courage. What is the relevance of vulnerability and courage to how we show up in the workplace?

Module 4: Where do you want to show up, live brave and be seen?
Examination of the challenges associated with uncertainty, risk and exposure in the workplace.  At the same time, recognise how criticism and cynicism impede their (and others’) willingness to be vulnerable or to be brave.  Working through where participants want to show up, live brave and be seen in the workplace.

Module 5: What is empathic leadership?
Understand the relationship between empathy and trust, and practice empathy within the group.  What does empathic leadership look like and what are its benefits?

Module 6: Where does fear stop you from being brave in the workplace?
Understand the relationship between fear and vulnerability, and why we are the most susceptible to fear when we are practicing vulnerability and courage.

Module 7: Understanding Fear
Begin to differentiate shame, guilt, humiliation, and embarrassment.  Understand that resilience is understanding shame, walking through  it with courage, compassion, and connection, and cultivating  authenticity.

Module 8: What is the armoury that we put on that stops us from being seen?
Begin to identify the defensive strategies they use to protect  themselves against feelings of shame and vulnerability in the workplace.  E.g. Perfectionism / People pleasing.  Differentiate perfectionism from healthy striving; and the relationship between shame and perfectionism.

Module 9: Professional Values
Identify the professional values that are the most important in their working lives and begin to understand how values clarification is essential to the development of resiliency.

Module 10: Gratitude and Closing

"That deep fear we all have of being wrong, of being belittled and of feeling less than, is what stops us taking the very risks required to move our companies forward"

Feedback from previous attendees:

EMILIE,THE DARING WAY™ WORKSHOP ATTENDEE
"The Daring Way™ workshop is probably the most insightful and valuable 2 days of personal development you could possibly invest in. As a former board-level sales director and now as a specialist leadership coach & sales trainer building my own business, I wasn’t sure how much I could really learn. Yet since Roxanne’s workshop, I’ve already felt braver in my approach to my business; far less inhibited by the ‘what ifs’ and the comparisons. My mind has become calmer, my conversations more satisfying (and easier) and I’ve felt a significant shift in my confidence and happiness - both professionally and personally.”
JESSICA,THE DARING WAY™ WORKSHOP ATTENDEE
"Brené Brown's methodology gives a creative and robust framework to work around and address powerful human emotion and issues around behaviour in relation to leadership. Rox created a completely safe space for us to support each other and feel supported, I was bowled over by her skill and sensitivity in this. She also led the agenda, being flexible and responsive to the energy and feelings in the group, but never losing focus or a sense of purpose. Rox is a powerful combination of real world leadership experience, well developed and technical coaching skills and a truly sensitivity and intuitive approach."
